East Side - West Side - All Around the Town

It's Spring-cleaning time again in Downtown Tallahassee. The Tallahassee Downtown Improvement Authority once again will begin its annual sidewalk cleaning. This year our cleaning contractors will be pressure washing Monroe Street on both sides from Park Avenue to Jefferson Street; Adams Street on both sides from Jefferson Street to Park Avenue; on College Avenue, both sides from Gadsden Street to Adams Street; and Jefferson Street from Monroe Street to Duval Street. The contractors use hot water and remove as much of the gum and stains as possible.

We do this each year to keep the downtown sidewalks looking good and to spruce up before the legislative session each year. Let's do as much as possible to keep our sidewalks looking good. Thank you for your help and cooperation.

2nd Annual Book Fair

On Saturday, May 15, 2010, the LeRoy Collins Leon County Library System and the Tallahassee Downtown Improvement Authority will be holding the second annual Tallahassee Downtown BOOK FAIR! Last year's event was a rousing success with featured headline speaker Eugene Robinson, columnist for The Washington Post and MSMBC political commentator. Mr. Robinson received a Pulitzer Prize just one week before he appeared at the downtown Tallahassee Book Fair.

The Book Fair this year will feature book vendors, writers, authors, and literacy advocacy groups in conjunction with the Saturday MarketPlace in beautiful downtown Ponce de Leon Park. The headline speaker this year will be a famous nationally known author to be announced soon! Save the date for this event. Last year was standing room only under a big tent on Park Avenue with seating for 300.
